  1. Louisa, I love the topic of your infographic! It is especially exciting that I now have a valid excuse to eat dark chocolate! :-) The PTC is so fortunate to have you join our elite group. Thank you for making such valuable contributions to our program.

  2. This article was very informative and interesting. I have heard about dark chocolate being a super food but learning about the other foods was exciting. I thought it was especially interesting how broccoli can slow the breakdown of ACH, or acetylcholine in the brain. Who knew that broccoli actually improved memory? Thank you for taking the time to create this article. I found it very informative and helpful.

  5. Louisa, as a type 2 diabetic, I am always concerned about my diet. Not only do these 5 foods help with memory and concentration, they help to lower blood sugar levels...maybe, not the dark chocolate, but a sampling of dark chocolate every now and then...in moderation can't hurt. Thanks for sharing this important information as "we are what we eat!"

  7. I really liked reading this post. It's very information regarding good foods for a healthy diet, most of those foods are ones I eat on a daily basis! However, eating sunflower seeds with the seasoning is not the best, since the added salt can cause some dehydration if you don't drink any water. I do love the visuals you added, it's kind of cute!

  10. Louisa, I am so glad to see this information. Sometimes students need directives on more than tutoring related directly to their content in class, and need life skills as well. This is very informative and will help students understand healthy/good foods to eat when preparing for testing or studying for class.

I am a big fan of dark chocolate at it has good benefits for your heart and blood flow but didn't know that it can help with awareness as well which I thought was interesting.

  14. Hi Louisa,

This is great information! I am always trying to stress to my students how important their diet is, especially gearing up toward test days (very relevant with the AP tests bearing down on us). I will definitely be sharing this with all of my students. They will love to see that dark chocolate made the list. Eating well can be quite tasty if you know what you're doing. Thanks!

    1. Excellent article, Louisa! I think this would be a fantastic topic to start a conversation about dietary choices and the impact of good and bad choices on our well-being. Heather is correct, sometimes we do neglect this aspect of our lives.

  17. I battled cancer in 2013 & 2014 and I really believe it all started because of my poor diet and overweight struggles. I am so health conscious now especially when it comes to what my kids eat. I believe that sugar is extremely destructive and it does not help with brain power. It makes lids lethargic and causes attention problems. Great article! I hope people listen!

  19. I LOVE this! Nutrition is so important and often something we don't think about when it comes to studying or doing school work! Students and educators should be knowledgeable on how nutrition, or lack thereof, effects learning.
