This is an amazing article. This goes in depth about journalism, contains lots of information, is very descriptive, and very convincing. I like how it brings up topics in our world today, and continues to touch on how journalism is a part of out democracy, and how suppressing it is unconstitutional. Lots of time seems to have been put into this article, and is seems as though the writer made good use of that time.
In these current times, getting to the truth is essential. Letting people know how journalists can do this is a great and your blog accomplishes this. I also appreciate the ideas for how to take action at the end to make sure that journalists can continue to do their work properly.
You have included such valuable information here! The media is basically vilified in our society today, but many forget how important their role is to sustaining a thriving democracy. Yes, there is often bias in reporting. However, the American people must remember that they have a job, too, of taking in information from a variety of sources, evaluating it to determine its validity, and then using it to broaden our understanding of the world around us. So thankful to those professional journalists who take their jobs seriously and refuse to be silenced.
Thank you so much for this in-depth and interesting article. I didn't know those facts about the Espionage Act. In these days of political division, I worry that people are forgetting how important ethical journalists are for obtaining facts and bringing issues into to the public's attention. And that yes, every citizen and his/her informed opinion has a role to play in a democracy.
What an important topic to discuss yesterday, today, and tomorrow. I am so impressed with the depth here. I think in this world of "fake news" and the vilification of our journalists, it is important to always practice analysis and to help students disseminate facts from falsehoods. I think one of the strongest aspects of this article is its emphasis on the idea that in order to have a thriving democracy, we must maintain a free press.
